Why ask Why?
Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed is a breakthrough because it challenges people
to realize whether our education is really teaching us what we need to know or not. Freire's
work makes one really ask a very important question that may be difficult to answer itself, and
it is why ask why? The question of why asking why is critical because it lets us question why
things or certain issues exist. Asking why we ask ourselves why is important because it shows
our capabilities to critically analyze situations or critical issues. Paulo Freire challenges readers
to understand issues and ask why those situations really exist.
It is really not so difficult for me to ask why my Fire project issue exists. Asking why is
only difficult according to the issue that is being tried to be solved. My Fire project issue is
animal conservation and animal populations decreasing. Although the causes of this issue are
complex, there is only one solution to the question of why does this issue exists. I personally
ask why in order to try to identify the root cause of my issue. I do not know what are the
reasons why other people ask why, but I am sure that they might be similar to mine. Asking
why is actually more difficult than one expects it to be. Again, asking why for my Fire project
issue wasn't really difficult, but the question is still difficult in most cases because there isn't
always a clear, concise answer to any issue. Not every issue is so simple as to find an answer
right away to why things are the way they are.
The reason why my issue of animal populations decreasing exists is mostly entirely due to
humanity. If it weren't for evil humans with evil intentions, many animal species would have high
populations, and species that have already gone extinct would have still existed right till this day.
Humans produce pollution and climate change with the industrialization that they create. Humans
also destroy ecosystems and destroy animal's natural habitats by deforestation and dislocation
of large areas of forest for development. Last but not least animals populations are decreasing, and
some animals are even in grave danger of becoming extinct due to human poaching. As one can
see, humans are the main if not the only cause of animal populations decreasing.
I have asked myself Freire's question of why ask why already, and I think I have an answer for
my particular issue. We ask why to analyze things and to learn more about certain things. For
example I asked why because I wanted to learn who or what was the reason behind animal
populations decreasing. I think that asking why is essential in order to take action against an issue
because if you ask your self why, then you might get an idea of what is the cause of that issue. Once
why is asked, maybe answers will come or maybe not, but the thing is that one will live without a
shadow of a doubt because at least they tried to know why things were the way they were. Paulo
Freire lets his readers know what to ask or how they should think in order to determine the certain
situations that they or the world filled with issues exist, so in conclusion I guess one does have to
ultimately ask-why ask "why?".
